Seafood Impact Exchange
What does 'good' look like for Aotearoa's seafood system?
In-person event in Auckland
Date: June 3 2026
Location: New Zealand International Convention Centre
Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Facilitated by Proxima and F.L.O.W. Collaborative (Katherine Short)

Purpose and format of the hui
The purpose of this hui is to explore a practical question: what does “good” look like for Aotearoa’s seafood system - now and into the future - given the pressures and opportunities shaping the sector.

The day will be framed by key perspectives from different parts of the seafood system. A range of realities and ambitions will be introduced, before shifting to facilitated, off‑the‑record conversations. The hui is designed to bring diverse voices together, to identify and develop actions.

The facilitator’s role is to hold a whole‑of‑system lens and a deliberate “yes, and” mindset, helping attendees build on each other’s thinking rather than defending positions.

Why now?
Timing matters in the complex seafood system. Depending on who you talk to or listen to, the system is facing increased environmental pressures, social expectations and regulatory change; market signals are diverse and volatile; and, the system is becoming less resilient. Many organisations are grappling with similar questions about the system in parallel, often in isolation.

The Seafood Impact Exchange creates an opportunity to pause, think critically together, and begin developing a shared understanding of the direction and dynamics of the system, not just its challenges. When ‘good’ is defined, key actions can be identified and developed to achieve this state.
Your involvement matters
As a key operator in the New Zealand Seafood System your involvement matters, because defining ‘good’ and developing credible pathways forward requires diverse insights from across the system.
For partner organisations, this event presents an opportunity to connect with the seafood sector, develop relationships and build an understanding of its broader leadership network and impacts.

Your voice and experience will add real value to the quality of the conversation and the leadership signal it sends at this moment.
